At TAI DT Sacco, sustainability is at the heart of our mission to transform members' lives socially and economically through timely, innovative, and accessible financial solutions. Through savings and credit, digital financial services, agricultural and enterprise financing, insurance, education support, and community investment, we empower members to expand economic opportunities, improve their well-being, and build resilient livelihoods. Guided by responsible finance, capacity building, and a commitment to protecting the environment, we extend our impact beyond individual members to the wider community, fostering shared prosperity while safeguarding the planet for future generations.

Environment
Tree planting drives
Every rainy season, Tai Foundation volunteers, Sacco staff and members roll up their sleeves to plant indigenous and fruit trees along riverbanks, school compounds and public land. Each seedling protects water sources, restores tired soils, and leaves a greener Kiambu for the next generation.

Community
Town clean-up days
Our teams take to the streets of the towns we serve, clearing drains, collecting litter and working alongside traders and residents. Clean streets mean healthier families and thriving businesses, the same communities our members live and work in.

Education
Equipping schools to learn and grow
Good learning starts with the right tools. We work with schools in our communities to provide practical resources, from sturdy desks and office furniture to computers, so learners, teachers and school leaders have what they need to thrive.

Health care
Community medical camps
Together with hospitals and clinics, we bring health services right into the communities we serve. Our medical camps offer screenings, check-ups and health advice close to home, helping families catch problems early and stay well.

Agriculture
Empowering farmers at our demo farm
At the Tai Sacco Demo Farm in Kahata Village, next to Kahata Shopping Centre, we bring farmers together for hands-on field days. They see modern, sustainable methods at work on real crops, then take those skills home to grow better yields while caring for the land.

Our commitment
Sustainability Policy Statement
Tai DT SACCO recognizes that its sustainability is closely connected to the well-being and resilience of its members and the communities and economic activities it serves. As a member-owned financial institution, the SACCO's sustainability responsibilities extend beyond its own operations to how it mobilizes members' savings, provides finance, supports economic activity, manages its people and resources, and governs its relationships with members and other stakeholders.
Tai DT SACCO is therefore committed to conducting its affairs in a manner that supports long-term member value, institutional resilience and responsible economic, social and environmental outcomes. In pursuing this commitment, Tai DT SACCO shall:
- Provide inclusive and responsible financial services that support members' social and economic wellbeing, with appropriate attention to financial inclusion, accessibility, fair treatment and member protection.
- Direct finance responsibly towards productive and sustainable economic activity and progressively develop appropriate green and sustainable financial solutions.
- Promote the wellbeing, dignity, safety and development of its employees and maintain an inclusive and equitable workplace.
- Support the communities it serves through financial empowerment, agricultural support, education and other appropriate community-development initiatives.
- Use natural and other resources responsibly, including energy and water, and progressively improve management of waste, e-waste and other environmental impacts arising from its operations.
- Recognize and manage material sustainability-related and climate-related risks and opportunities arising from its operations, members, financing activities and wider business relationships.
- Maintain high standards of integrity, accountability, compliance and responsible governance in the conduct of its affairs.
- Engage relevant stakeholders appropriately and consider their legitimate interests and concerns in sustainability-related decisions.
- Measure, monitor and report material sustainability performance and progressively strengthen the quality, reliability and transparency of its sustainability disclosures.
Tai DT SACCO shall integrate sustainability considerations into its governance, strategy, risk management, business activities and operations, using existing institutional structures and its affiliates, including The TAI Foundation, wherever appropriate and strengthening them where necessary.
The SACCO shall progressively develop its sustainability practices and reporting in line with applicable laws, regulatory requirements and relevant sustainability reporting standards, including IFRS S1 and IFRS S2, as applicable.
